| Carolyn Horan has a doctorate in education and worked as a teacher and administrator in Marin County, California for twenty years. Moving into the field of research and evaluation, Carolyn continued working in education on the creation of a Project Based Learning manual for teachers and evaluating arts projects in elementary schools. Her interest in ceramics has led her to continue her art training, studying ceramics at the local college with Joel Bennett, and participating in private workshops. She recently studied at Escuela de las Artes with Juan Quezada who has made the pottery of Mata Ortiz well known throughout Mexico and the United States. A ceramic studio in her home in Sonoma County is equipped with an electric kiln and a raku kiln as well as an outdoor pit, which allows her to pursue her interest in both raku and pit fired pieces. | |||||||
